I feel like only you guys would understand

I fried my laptop last week.  This weekend I was thinking, do we really need a computer at home?  Our phones do everything... then I remembered I can't get ebooks or audiobook from the elibrary to my nook/ipod from my phone.  I really don't want to read from my phone and usually the audiobook don't work on my phone.

So now I'm probably spending a few hundred dollars for a new computer (probably just a desktop) so I can keep getting my free library books on my other electronics.  Totally irrational right?!

  • It stinks to have to put a lot of money on a computer, but I think it's worth it,because computers are so vital nowadays.

Keep an eye out on slickdeals.net. It's a website my BF uses to find good deals, and he found my PC through there. It was half off retail if purchased directly through Microsoft. the deals go pretty fast, if they're good... but for big purchases, we ALWAYS scour that website first.  If you make an account, you can even sign up for notifications if posts with the keywords you enter pop up.  It's how we found a deal on our TV, my laptop, our Dyson vacuum, etc.

    Good luck!!
  • I see nothing irrational about this.

  • Totally justified purchase, IMO.

  • I think this means you need to upgrade your e-reader.  :)

But then again, that doesn't help with the audibook issue.  I vote for needing both a new laptop and e-reader.

  • You might be able to get a netbook (the littler computers with the compact keyboards) for a pretty reasonable price.  Then you won't need a full size computer but you still have all the other stuff you need it for without shelling out the $$$.

  • I haven't had access to my home laptop for four days and it's killing me!  I don't think I could live without a traditional computer, no matter how many other gadgets I had.  You need a new computer. :)

I think all nooks you have to download the book on your computer from my elibrary, and use adobe to drop it into your nook through the USB.  Kindles you can do it on wifi or through USB, at least my MIL can do that on her kindle she got for Christmas.

I do think about just getting a samsung tablet and using kindle and nook app and have the best of both worlds... I wonder if the overdrive works on that?  But again, what about my audiobooks.
