Re: Happy Friday!! What are you reading?

  • I am re-listening to The Raven Boys and I am so in love with this book.  I seriously want to live in Henrietta.

I just started reading Mariana by Susanna  Kearsley and it is absolutely wonderful, of course.  It makes me happy that I am loving this one after only feel so-so on The Shadowy Horses.

  • I'm listening to Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and reading White Oleander by Janet Fitch.  They are both for SuBC and are #125 and #126 for the year.  I'm about halfway though Neverwhere and I really like it.  I'm only about 10 pages into White Oleander and I haven't formed an opinion as of yet.

I started The Shadowy Horses and really like it but I want to finish this one first...

I'm re-listening to Catching Fire, can't wait for the movie!

    @mana8503
How is the book? I really liked the movie, and if the movie was that good the book must be better right?

  • I am reading The Great Hunt by Rober Jordan. I am enjoying it so far, after finishing the Eye of the World I just wanted to see what happened next!

  • @ewill7911 - I'm not too far in, maybe 80 pages.  It's good so far.  Pretty on par with his other books.  I've had it on hold since the movie came out (didn't see it yet).  I think I was like 670th on hold and I finally got it a week ago haha.

  • I'm about halfway through a re-read of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. :)

I am adoring it, though I am flabbergasted at how much better the writing got in the last few books.  It's even more simple/juvenile than I remembered.

I'm reading John Adams by David McCullough for the presidential challenge (not very far in at all) and The Magicians by Lev Grossman (for book club).  I'm liking the McCullough so far but I'm not really loving The Magicians and I feel bad about that because it was my pick for my book club :(

  • Reading The Invention of Sarah Cummings by Olivia Newport.  I'm sadly not enjoying this one as much as the first two in the series.  Sad face.

I'm about to start listening to Six Years by Harlan Coben because someone here recommended it.  Perhaps @myjunegirls?  I can't remember.

#71 and 72 for the year.

  • I'm almost done with The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder. It's #19/25.

It's pretty good. It's nonfiction, which always takes me longer to read than fiction. I'm hoping by next Friday, I'm on to something else!

I just started reading the third UK Harry Potter book.  I didn't start it until I had ordered GOF from Book Depository.  I'm also going to start Shadow and Bone on Monday.

I'm listening to Heaven and Earth by NR.  I have Storm Front by Jim Butcher downloaded and waiting for me.
@RevJen - I'm not over being jealous that you have the UK copies, but I am curious how they are? Are they any different?

  • How to be a Woman, by Caitlin Moran.  It's a collection of essays and her humor is a lot like The Bloggess.  Pretty funny stuff.

  • I'm reading Thirteen Reasons Why. So so good. Should be required reading for all high school students.

I think it's #26 for the year (my goal was 25).

The wording is different.  Schedules are timetables.  Studying is revising.  That sort of thing.

  • Rose Garden for me too. I'm also listening to The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon. It's very intricately detailed in its world building so I feel like I'm missing a bit here and there by not pausing to soak it in or stopping to re-listen to parts, but the story is pretty cool.

It think these will be #37 and 38 for the year.
