Just finished the Dr. Oz cleanse- now what?

DH and I just finished the 3 day Dr. Oz cleanse, basically eating nothing but 3 huge fruit+veggie filled shakes for 3 days. We feel spectacular and I'm down about 5 pounds. If you've done a cleanse, what happens post cleanse? Do you just try to keep up healthy eating? Does the weight come back (i.e. is this just water weight?). Just curious what others have experienced. I'm considering doing this cleanse once a month.

Re: Just finished the Dr. Oz cleanse- now what?

  • I'm not a fan of juice/smoothie cleanses for this reason: it's really easy to put back on any weight you've lost. Ease back into a normal diet slowly, and definitely stay as healthy as you can.

I do a 'clean eating' cleanse every so often that's all food-based. It's tough because it's limiting on what you can eat, but I like that I can eat actual food and it helps me get back into healthy eating habits when I fall off the wagon.
  • Thanks- I will say that I was also leery of "cleanses" and "detox" diets- and I know they get a bad rap. The Dr. Oz plan is quite a bit of food; if I had to just eat everything that went into those shakes I'd have a hard time finishing it. I can see how a very strict clean eating "cleanse" would be as efficient.

Yeah, that's the hard part I think. When I'd make all the dishes for the clean eating detox, it felt like SO much and I couldn't finish it.. but then I'd be hungry again in an hour because I didn't eat it all. lol I try to save my leftovers and snack on them now so I don't feel so deprived in between meal/snack times.
