Has anyone thrown a murder mystery party?
DD would like one for her birthday. I know there are kits on the internet that help with party planning, but I am wondering if anyone has thrown a party like this before and what I can do to keep it interesting.
Re: Has anyone thrown a murder mystery party?
Give people the general theme ahead of time, so they can dress up. If you want people to really get into character, you can give them their specific character profile ahead of time too, but it's not necessary.
When we played, ours was about a rich Italian family - so we dressed up, and played after we ate a lasagna dinner. I think we were given our specific character information ahead of time, but not even the murder knows that he/she is the murder into about half way through the game (and then, only he/she knows, until the final reveal - that might vary depending on the kit). My brother in law brought water guns, hidden in his suit jacket just in case, and it turned out that he really was the murder....it made for a very fun/wet conclusion to the game. They're a lot of fun!
