Help! Spilled paint on kitchen floor!

Last weekend I spilled brown paint (I was touching up the cabinets) on my kitchen floor. DH and I got most of it up right away, but there are some spots of grout that are still pretty brown. I just tried using Goo Gone Painter's Pal and Magic Eraser and it helped, but I still have brown spots on my grout. The guy at Home Depot recommended the Goo Gone instead of plain paint thinner because he said that would destroy the grout. Any other ideas of what I can use? We are having an open house/house warming in two weeks...

Re: Help! Spilled paint on kitchen floor!

  • I don't know of any cleaners that could help.  One option that you have is to find a paint color that matches the color of your grout lines, and go over the spots where the brown spots are.  The last option would be to try to use a sharp tool to shave or scrape a small amount of the grout off the surface, taking mostly the brown paint color with you.
  • Thanks Amanda, I ordered a different cleaner that had some good reviews and will try that. If it doesn't work I may have to do what you suggested =)
  • try using some paint thinner on a q-tip it shouldn't do "that much damage" if they are only small spots
