S/O Rereads

How many of you reread books? Do you reread more than once? Do you reread an entire series?

I've never been one to reread anything...even if I LOVE a book. There's nothing like that first time and I don't want to be disappointed with a reread.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

Re: S/O Rereads

  • I rarely reread anything. I think I've only read 2 or 3 books more than once.

  • I almost never reread. I often intend to, but I usually find something new to read instead.

  • I reread favorites to get out of slumps.  If there is nothing that is really appealing to me, I'll reread an old favorite just so I have something to read that I know I'll like.

I'll most likely also reread Divergent and Insurgent to prepare for Allegiant.  I often forget what's going on in a series so I'll reread to remind myself what's happening.

  • I'm a chronic re-reader. I am constantly re-reading books. I would say of the 190 books I read last year, almost half were re-reads. There are some I have re-read more times than I can count (Pride & Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, Harry Potter series, Speak, Nineteen Minutes. I could go on and on.) Re-reading a favorite book is like hanging out with a best friend.
  • The only books I ever reread before were the Little House in the Prairie books, which I read so many times growing up that all my books are falling apart!
I recently started rereading the Harry Potter series, but I don't normally reread books.

^This.  I love to re-read books.  Sometimes it is just comforting to go back to an old favorite.  I still get caught up in them and can't put them down even though I know the endings.

This is what I do too.  I got into the habit of rereading all of the previous HP books before the next in the series came out.  I also reread the HG books before the movie last year and will probably do that again before CF comes out in November.  And I'm going to start a Divergent and Insurgent reread pretty soon so that the events are fresh in my mind when Allegiant is released.

I also occasionally will reread a favorite to get out of a slump.  But generally, there are sooooo many good books out there that I haven't read, so I don't reread much.

  • I love rereading! I reread the HP series every year. I would always reread them before the new one came out. And once I finished the new book, I usually turn right around and read it again, just to be sure I got it all.

I also reread books before the movie comes out. I reread favorites over and over again. There are a few books that I have read at least 6 or 7 times that I can remember. I'll also randomly pick up a book that I know I read and enjoyed but can't remember all of what happened.

I also go through phases where I only read new stuff though.
    image
  • I've only re-read a few so far.  I'm on my first re-read (really listen) of HP.  I've read The Giver a lot and I've read The Hunger Games trilogy and The Fault in Our Stars twice.  I'll also re-read if it's for my IRL book club meeting if I read it over a year ago.

Next up on my re-reads I think will be 100 Years of Solitude or Grapes of Wrath.

  • I have some books I have reread multiple times (Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner, Mirror Image by Sandra Brown, Beaches by Iris Rainer Dart, and The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy), and then I have read a couple of the NR trilogies more than once. I don't reread things super often (except for those four favorites, which I usually read once each year), but I am not anti-reread.

  • I didn't very much until the past few years. I've found that I really love to revisit old favorites though. It's like getting together with a group of old friends after a long time apart. Some of my favorites to reread are I am the Messenger, Daughter of Smoke and Bone and the HP books. I've reread I am the Messenger and DoSaB both once a year for the past 3 years.

I love to reread too.  If life is difficult, if I'm in a reading slump, or if I don't feel like reading any of the other books I have, I'll reread.

I usually reread the HP series about once a year.  I reread Outlander before she releases a new book.  I've been rereading books I was required to read in high school (Great Gatsby, 1984, Jane Eyre, etc), since I've found that I appreciate them much more now than I did as a teen.
  • Usually the only books I read are Fahrenheit 451 and the HP books. Sometimes I'll reread a book before a movie comes out, or if there's a new book in a series that I really like.

  • I only reread books that I absolutely love. I have reread The Giver and Fahrenheit 451 more times than I can count. I do like listening to books that I've already read. I am terrible with new audiobooks but love to 'reread' via audio.

  • I almost never reread. I feel like I read too slowly and there are too many good books out there that I want to read. I'm not going to have time to get to them all as it is.

  • I constantly reread either my favorite parts or the entire book as a whole. I love revisiting my favorite characters over and over again. It really helps me get out of reading slumps.

  • I reread a lot of books because of work. I'm reading Divergent for the 2nd time this year because I'm reading it aloud to one of my classes. I also have a few very favorites I love to revisit when I'm in a funk.

  • I occasionally reread if it's something I loved. If I read it in print the first time around, I may listen to the audiobook the next time around. I've done this with Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and John Green's books so far.

  • Until I discovered you ladies and goodreads, I would reread A LOT. My TBR list is out of control so I rarely reread. My audiobooks are exclusively rereads, though. But I don't feel like I'm actually reading when I'm listening to them because I'm usually doing something else so they don't get my full attention like sitting down with a book does.

  • I used to re-read a lot, like an annual LOTR and HP re-read, but I have trimmed back to about a handful or less re-reads each year.  I have been enjoying reading more new-to-me material, but I also understand loving something enough to come back to it time after time.

  • I rarely reread.  There are a few favorites I'll go back to from time to time, but maybe only 1-2 books a year out of the 130-150 I read are rereads.

  • Growing up, I used to reread a ton. To be quite honest, we didn't have a bunch of money and didn't have access to the library living in a pretty rural area like we did. I did use my school library like a champ though. I know I have reread Little Women at least a dozen times. Same with TKAM.

Now, I usually only reread books that a part of a series before the next book comes out or if it is a book that I really love. I want to do an Outlander reread and a Harry Potter reread soon.

  • I often "reread" the book as an audiobook. Especially if it's part of a series and I want to refresh before I read the next book. Sometimes I'll reread a favorite to pull myself out of a reading slump.

  • I love rereading, but I think it helps that my memory is crap, so it's almost like I'm reading the book for the first time. I reread a LOT, but have discovered audiobooks for many of my rereads.

  • I love re-reads. I re-read whole series like outlander and hp but also individual books. I love reading nora roberts over and over.
  • I re-read old faves. Especially when I'm it a reading rut. It helps me get my mojo back.
