Time for a New Thermometer

My Target one has decided my temp has been exactly 96.80 every single morning for the last 6 days straight. Yeah...I don't think so. :P

Re: Time for a New Thermometer

  • I had the same problem with the one I got from Target, so I bought one from Wal Mart and didn't have any issues.

  • lol wow, that's odd. Stupid thermometer!
  • Mine would do that from time to time.  I found that if I took my temperature later in the day it would almost always give a different temperature. Then the next morning I'd get an accurate reading.

I tried this yesterday. Took it at my normal 5 a.m. time, then took it around 9 or so when I got up. It went right back to 96.80 this morning.

Stupid Walmart is out of my way, whereas Target is right on my drive home. So I don't know when I'll get a chance to get a replacement.

This worked for me once, too. But then the following week it gave me a low battery reading and didn't work for a few days. I turned it on after that, and it worked just fine. It's been working perfectly for months now. I do not understand batteries.

There's a CVS about a mile past my street, so not really "on the way" but still a lot closer than the Walmart is. I might swing in there and pick one up.

  • Soooooo, I grabbed a new BBT thermometer at CVS last night. First of all, I'm not thrilled it takes a full minute to give a reading; my Target one takes like half that.

I temped this morning using both thermometers simultaneously (I was curious to see how "off" my Target one might be). Well, the Target one told me 97.18 and the CVS one gave me 97.70!! WTF?! That's like, high in my post-O range. Should I not use the new thermometer until next cycle? One is obviously wrong; I don't get how a thermometer can be so off!

That is complicated. My CVS one doesn't take that long, maybe they changed the style? I dunno.

I don't know which temp to use either. Maybe stick with the old til next cycle if you can, just so things are consistent?

This is definitely what I was thinking. If the new thermometer is more accurate (by sheer reason of it being newer) and my BBT is actually higher than the old one has been reading, the new one will make FF think I've had a temp spike and incorrectly pinpoint O (which definitely won't be happening for like another week+).

Guess I'll stick with my Target one for now and switch to the new come next cycle. CVS's was more expensive and they only offered one BBT thermometer. I hated having to buy it. The things we do!!
