For those of you that wear foundation

I am looking to try something new for the Fall and want to get some ideas.  Would you mind answering some questions and offering suggestions?

What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?)

Brand?

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone?

What do you use for application?

What do you like and dislike about it?

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal?

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting?

Re: For those of you that wear foundation

  • What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?) Traditional

    Brand? L'oreal True Match

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? I have sensitive skin, which is also slightly oily at times.  My skin is suuuuuuper pale.

What do you use for application? Fingers

What do you like and dislike about it? I always have to buy the lightest shade available of any makeup product.  I like the True Match because the lightest shade is available with a blue undertone.  Lots of super pale makeup has yellow/ivory undertones.

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? I've been using it for about 7 or 8 years, I think, so I guess I'm pretty loyal.

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting? Nope.

What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?) I use a combination. If I need SPF, I'll use a DD/BB cream. It's not my favorite.  If my skin is dry I'll use the L'oreal Dream Lumi liquid. For powder foundation, I love the BareMinerals one.

    Brand? L'oreal or BareMinerals

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? I tend to have drier skin. The powder alone was drying me out, so something I'll use the BM powder as a finishing powder over top the liquid. My skin is fair-light.

What do you use for application? Always a kabukhi brush. I put the liquid on my hand, dot it on my face and blend with a brush. I'll use a different brush for finishing powder.

What do you like and dislike about it? Sometimes I react to different brands. For the longest time I couldn't wear any liquid without wanting to scratch my face off. L'oreal seems to be okay so far. If I feel like my skin is extra sensitive, I skip foundation all together.

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? Fairly loyal.

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting?  Never heard of it, sorry.

Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

  • What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?)
I used to SWEAR by BareMinerals. Now? Benetint (Benefit) tinted moisturizer on top of NYX photoready primer with Urban Decay's Naked Skin. LOVE.

    Brand?

    Directions are hard.

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone?

    Fair, sensitive, oily.

What do you use for application?

I use brushes from the Sephora Around the World travel collection. I only like synthetic brushes.

What do you like and dislike about it?

    Staying power, coverage

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal?

I don't switch much once I find something that works. Unless my needs change.

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting?

    No-- tell me more.

  • I switch it up. I use Estée Lauder double wear light sometimes, other times I use studio gear's mineral powder or bare minerals. Then sometimes (weekends) I just use Origins VitaZing (ADORE that stuff) and forgo actual foundation.

I'm relatively loyal to those. I know what works for me. Ill try other stuff but always come back

Skin is normal I guess. Not oily and not really dry. And I am fair skinned but I do tan somewhat easily

Application is usually fingers for the liquids and a fluffy brush for the powders. I used a foundation brush for awhile but decided I get better coverage with fingers so I went back to that.

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

  • @Seahorse01 let's do this together in October.
  • What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?) Mineral Powder

Brand? Bare Minerals Matte in Fair

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? Oily and acne-prone, fair skin

What do you use for application? Kabuki brush

What do you like and dislike about it? Covers well w/o looking heavy, doesn't make me break out. Kind of pricey though.

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? Loyal user of 3 years

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting? Haven't tried it.

    Married August 2009

    3 years. 5 losses.

Our rainbow baby boy born 11.16.15

  • What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer, minerals, traditional foundation, other?)  Mary Kay Timewise Matte Wear Liquid foundation.  Then their Mineral powder on top.

    Brand? Mary Kay

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? Dry/normal. Medium skin tone.

What do you use for application? Mary Kay's Liquid foundation brush, and mineral powder brush (I've learned not to veer from this).

What do you like and dislike about it? I love that it lasts forever! My mineral powder lasted me 2 years.  I also like that you do not need much to apply and get an even look.  The only thing I dislike is that the mineral powder gets caught on my "woman stache" and makes it more pronounced. So I have to rub it away from my upper lip.

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? Been using theirs for over 5 years now. I tried a few others, and they made my skin very oily and breakout.

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting?  Nope.

  • What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?) Either a mineral powder foundation or a BB cream.

    Brand?
For the mineral powder, Physician's Formula. For the BB cream, Garnier.

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? I have combo to fairly oily skin; I get pretty slick as the day wears on. I also have olivey-tan Italian skin.

What do you use for application? For the powder, I use the brush that comes with the foundation. For the BB cream, I find my fingers blend best.

What do you like and dislike about it?
I love everything about the mineral powder foundation. It blends really well and doesn't contribute to my oiliness. I can also dab a concealer brush in it and apply it directly to spots that need a more concentrated coverage, like under my eyes or on blemishes.

I'm on the fence with the BB cream. Garnier's original formula isn't oil free, it comes out in a mousse-like cream, and smooths out really nicely without using a lot; however, not being oil free, I get shinier/oilier with it and tend to need a mattifying powder along with. The new oil free formula keeps the shine factor down, but it's runny as hell! I do find it to have slightly better coverage than the old one, and it does last very well.

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? I've been using the Physician's Formula for several years; I'm very happy with it, especially for the price, so I'd say I'm fairly loyal. I started trying out the BB creams almost a year ago, and I've only tried 2 (Maybelline was the other).

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting? Sephora is 'spensive for me, otherwise I might know what you're talking about, lol.

  • What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?) I just use a tinted moisturizer with SPF for everyday wear. I have more traditional foundation for special occasions
    Brand? Both are from MAC

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? combination skin, fair skin but tanned in the summer. I need 2-3 different colours throughout the year

What do you use for application? foundation brush, also from MAC

What do you like and dislike about it? tinted moisturizer is light and easy and covers well without looking like I have tons of make-up on.

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? Very loyal to MAC

What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?) Traditional

Brand? I use NARS Sheer Glow in Stromboli

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? I have sensitive olive/Italian skin

What do you use for application? Fingers or sponge if I'm not lazy

What do you like and dislike about it? I love everything about it - the only thing I don't love is the price ($44/bottle)

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? I am loyal but in the summers I only wear tinted moisturizer

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting? Not until youuuuuu just introduced me - so excited!!!

  • What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?)  Minerals,Traditional

Brand?  Bare Escentuals, and UD Naked, depending on my mood

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone?  Fair with a pink undertone, sensitive skin

What do you use for application?  I use the BE foundation brush for that, and a flat brush similar to this for the UD
    image
What do you like and dislike about it?  I love the BE and have been using it for years. Sometimes, I'm not 100% happy with the coverage, but other than that, I love it. With the UD, I like it, but don't love it. I've never been a huge fan of liquid foundation, because it feels heavy, and this actually does not, BUT I don't think it's the right color for my skintone, and I feel like I get the obvious line at my jaw after I apply it. This could totally be in my head, but is how I feel about any and all liquid makeup.

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal?  I'm pretty loyal to BE. Tried UD becaue of Derp's recommendation.

Has anybody used Sephora's new colormatch system they are touting? No, but I need to.

I haven't had any issues with it, other than I think the shade is off. I typically breakout from liquid makeup, and haven't with this at all.

  • What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?) Mineral

    Brand? Bare Minerals

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? Combination and acne, and I have pink undertones.

What do you use for application? I use a tiny brush to conceal problem areas and acne, and then a normal brush for the rest of my face.

What do you like and dislike about it? I love how lightweight and natural it feels. However, sometimes I think it rubs off during the day.

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? I'm loyal now. I used to switch around, but I found that this lasts at least 3-4 months at a time and I haven't found anything else that compares.

  • @Seahorse01-- She's right! I thought for sure it would use more (like, doesn't it get wasted on the brush?!) But somehow, it is magical. It covers better and really get's worked in better. I used to apply it like a caveman with my fingers.

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? Fairly normal.  My chin dislikes AF and gets a bit zitty.

What do you use for application? Brush

What do you like and dislike about it? I like that it's not thick or cakey.  I dislike that it's messy, but that doesn't have anything to do with the efficiency of the product.

What kind do you use? (bb/dd/cc cream, tinted moisturizer,  minerals, traditional foundation, other?) I use just basic foundation

Brand? Almay. It's more expensive than others but it's the only kind that doesn't make my face feel completely disgusting and greasy

What kind of skin do you have, and what kind of skin tone? I have oily skin in the summer and dry in the winter...I am a t-zone person. My skin tone is pretty light...I think they call it "buff" but it's basically one step up from the lightest color.

What do you use for application? Just my fingers to put it on, then I blend with one of those make up sponges

What do you like and dislike about it? Love that it doesn't make my face feel greasy but hate that it's a bit more expensive than other kinds that you can get at Walmart

Do you switch brands frequently, or are you loyal? I've been pretty loyal...I tried some other brands because I was looking for something cheaper but they didn't cut it!
