Recommend an "unknown" book
The Great Book Challenge on Instagram has got me thinking and is making me want to add more to my Goodreads TBR pile.
How about some recommendations that aren't the most common i.e. HP, Outlander, HG, etc. Plus the board is a little slow today..
Re: Recommend an "unknown" book
my read shelf:
I guess I can't keep recommending Shadow and Bone anymore. Ha.
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness - it's a "young YA" sci-fi series, and I loved it. I saw someone gave it 1 star on the NBC spreadsheet, and that made me very sad.
The Passage by Justin Cronin - this series has popped up a couple times I think.
The Ghatti's Tale series by Gayle Greeno - this series got me into the Fantasy genre to begin with years ago. I guess it's sci-fi too, since it occurs on another planet. It's about these huge cats that can communicate telepathically with people, and since they know when people are lying, are used as the judicial system. A really different premise, but fun, especially if you like cats.
Kate's Recipe Box || Relatively Bookish
I love the "Black Stiletto" series by Raymond Benson. Good strong female character.
Ashlyn's Radio. Good YA, a little creepy.
Mozart's Wife: romantic historical fiction.
The Apothecary's Daughter: historical fiction.
A quick review of these books all have female lead characters, are about $2.99 to get the Kindle version, and the average Amazon rating is 4.2 stars. All are good, easy reads, nothing too heavy/ deep.
I guess I have patterns in my book buying habits. LOL
I mostly lurk, so I hope you don't mind me jumping in!
One of my favorite books that hasn't gotten much hype is "Me & Emma" by Elizabeth Flock. I was completely shocked by the ending. This book sorta reminded me of The Glass Castle so if you enjoyed that, then you'll like this read.
This has been on my TBR list forever! I guess I better bump it up.
_Bruiser_ by Neal Shusterman
Here is a piece from one woman's review on GR that I love....
Bruiser is one of those punch-you-in-the-gut, stab-you-in-the-heart kind of books that you run across only once in a long while. Does it have a bit of supernatural? Sure. A little bit of romance? Maybe a sliver. Action? Just a taste. What it is rich in is humanity. Shusterman's character study isn't for the faint of heart and this book isn't for those seeking a quick and easy read. He puts a price on happiness and asks the terrifying question, what would you do if you had a chance to live without pain?
This book is brilliant.
