what to do w/ mushy (frozen then thawed) strawberries?
I am so frustrated, a brand new container of strawberries was pushed to the back of my fridge and froze, and when they thaw, they are all mushy. I know my kids won't eat them this way but I'm trying to figure out a way to not waste them, outside of putting in smoothies (which I like but the rest of the family doesn't) or making something like a jam (don't really want to do anything requiring canning LOL).
Any ideas?
Re: what to do w/ mushy (frozen then thawed) strawberries?
Puree and strain and use as the liquid for gelatin.
Puree and strain to make strawberry syrup for ice cream.
Sugar and set aside and use as a filling for shortcakes.
Top oatmeal or other hot cereals.
