If it's alright, I'll be cautiously (but optimistic-ly) joining you all!
I'm coming by way of GP but for those that don't "know" me, I'm Erin and my husband is Mike. We've been married for almost 3 years and TTC for almost 2 1/2 years.
My husband is a paraplegic so when we started TTC we really weren't sure if we'd have any trouble but all the doctor's told us there's no reason DH shouldn't be able to have kids. So we tried on our own for almost a year before getting a referral to an RE. My tests all came back normal and DH had a great count and motility but only 1% morph. We tried 3 TI and 2 IUI before moving on to IVF. Our first IVF failed pretty miserably. 15 fertilized but nothing made it to blast by day 5 and nothing made it to freeze. That was unexpected. IVF #2 we did a different protocol and I added acupuncture and again we had 15 fertilized, a hatching blast on day 5, and 7 made it to freeze. Such a difference!
And that brings me to my first ever BFP...I've been getting faint positives since Tuesday (6dp5dt) although my first beta isn't until this upcoming Tuesday. I'm still in a bit of disbelief and just anxious for the blood confirmation.
DH knew I would test early but I told him probably not until this weekend. I was still holding out hope that I could surprise him. He's recently gotten really into craft beer, so I often pick up beers that I think are fun to surprise him with. So after work last night, I stopped and picked up two Rogue beers, each one had Mom or Dad in the beer name. He was home when I got home so I handed him the bag and told him I got him a present. He pulled the Dad one out first and then the Mom and just said "Cool, thanks". I said, "Do you see a theme?" and then he realized it and said "Oh shit, really?! Are you serious?!". He was annoyed with himself later that he didn't get it. A little later I pulled out the original gifts I had bought him over the past two years, the "My Boys Can Swim" book, and a onesie that says "Old enough to dribble, Too young to dunk" (DH plays wheelchair basketball) .
So there's our story. I look forward to joining in now instead of lurking! Oh, EDD is 5/23/14!

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."
