TTC, not as fun as one would think...

Hi all. I'm back again after another ridiculously long period of non-checking the board. Spent the summer in Europe with DH and my fam. Been back for about a month now. Just started TTC and I've been lurking and posting around tb TTC boards. My hormones are all over the place since stopping bc and I've been trying to chart my cycles on FF (what a hot mess that is!) im exhausted bc weve been trying every night almost and it's way too much. I'm so sore and I'm just not up for it. I joke with DH telling him he should feel lucky bc he'll never see this kind of action again, but I know he's gotta be getting tired too. Question for you ladies - did you chart/temp when TTC? & how many months did it take you? DH keeps thinking if we just keep it up it'll just happen, but I can't keep up trying every night or even every other night. Especially not if it could take months of this! Also, I got my 1st BFN today, and it sucked. :(

  • My first recommendation would be to calm down.  1 month is nothing, especially just coming off BC.  My dr told me anything up to a year of trying is totally normal.  As long as you're getting your period, just keep going.  We were casually trying for about 7 months before getting pregnant and I guarantee you we were not doing it every day!  Just relax and enjoy yourself and see how things go for a couple of months and see how it goes.  Good luck!
  • i charted/temp for my first... i got pregnant when I didn't chart. go to amazon... buy ovulation sticks.. pee on it and when the 2 lines show you go for it.  i plan on doing the same for baby#2. you shouldn't be having sex everyday.. my dr told me every other to every 2 days!  good luck!!

  • I agree with @appletinibella. I don't ovulate the same every month. I've ovulated everywhere from day 14 to day 22. Ovulation tests definitely helped me narrow it down so that we weren't having sex every night cluelessly. With that said, it took me 5-6 months to get pregnant with DD1 and 4 months to get pregnant with DD2. Good luck to you.

  • My dr said have sex every other day from day 8 until day 22. I kid you not that is key!!!!! After a year of trying for #2 (after a mc) that worked. We were ready to go see specialists, did the ovulation kits, etc. We just had really bad timing. Try to relax and it will all work out. GL
