28 year old fiance dressing like a punk teenager from the 90s
My fiance and I are getting married next month. He is 28 and I am 26. Our dressing styles are totally different, always have been. And honestly I think I've always been OK with that for the most part until recently. Over the last 4 years the only times I have had an issue with it was when we went to formal events or occasions that required dressing nicely. He still wears the 60" JNCO jeans, baggy shorts with camouflage print, rock band t-shirts and hoodies, and DC shoes. I on the other hand have been making attempts to (while keeping my own personal style) allow my wardrobe to grow up with me. He flat out refuses to dress differently because he doesn't want to "conform". This really became an issue for me when I realized that he will be wearing his usual "dress up" clothes to our rehearsal dinner, which consists of: 60" khakis and a (5+ year old) button up black shirt (the only shirt he owns that is not a t-shirt).
All of this being said, I don't want to change him, and I don't care if he dresses what is socially considered "his age". I just wish he would step it up a little bit, come out of the 90s, and find another, more adult way to express his personality. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks!
