Moving, Need Advice

We just found out my husband is being transferred to the Baltimore Area in the next few weeks.  We currently live in Michigan and know basically nothing about Baltimore or surrounding areas past what we've Googled the last 24 hours.  My husband will not have a specific job location, he will work all around Baltimore so no one particular direction is needed.  We will rent and don't want to spend more than $2500, we need at least a little green space (even if it's just the end-unit townhome) for our son who will be 3 in December.  We eventually want to buy and can spend up to about $400,000 (in the next few years).  So far people have told us about Bel Air, Jessup and most cities in Harford or Howard Counties.  Depending on what website I look at, it seems crime is rather high and then other sites say it's about average.

We are looking for a somewhat quiet neighborhood, a little rural isn't a problem (we definitely don't want to be in the city).

Any advice would be great, thank you!

  • Sorry that no one has replied to you, but this board has moved to a mostly Facebook format!  If you're still around, I would recommend Bel Air.  It's family oriented, has plenty of green space, and is affordable.
