NBR: Help! Housewarming gift on a budget?
We're headed to a friend's housewarming party this weekend. I don't think they're expecting gifts, but I'd like to take something. The kicker is that, for a few reasons, I'm on a super tight budget this month! I'd like to get something cute or funny, but I need it to be as inexpensive as possible.
Ideas? TIA!

You could get a pretty serving dish from Homegoods or TJ Maxx or a store like that and bake something for the party.

I know they have that thing where you write on mugs with a Sharpie and bake them, I would think this may be the same kind of thing?
Good Luck!

I'm not a huge wine person, but I usually take a bottle of wine. Because I'm weird like that, I usually buy Mad Housewife or some other bottle with a crazy label. That way it can be used as a decoration if they don't drink it. (My wine rack is full of funny wine. We don't drink it.)
My favorite wine is Relax, a Reisling in a big blue bottle. It's about $10 at Target.

Bottle of wine or house plant is how I usually go.
Recently I made a "Just in case you forgot.." type basket with typical things new homeowners need around like gorilla glue, 3M hooks or tabs, goo be gone, etc. in a bucket with some tissue paper. It was a big hit for the gift getters.
DH and I just bought a house in April of 2012. I'm trying to think of some gifts that we got that were fairly inexpensive but meaningful.
My grandmother filled a basket with cleaning supplies, including laundry detergent, dish detergent, toilet cleaner, etc. So that was nice.
We got quite a few bottles of wine, so that's always a winner.
Moving of course always brings expenses, so gift cards to home depot, lowes, etc. are always helpful.
I also like the idea of going to homegoods, ross, tj maxx, etc. and getting a set of glasses and pairing with a bottle of wine, or a nice dish and put something tasty in it.
Don't think too hard about it and don't stretch your budget too far. I know they'll be grateful for the thought no matter what you come up with.
