tmy poor puppy!!! she started have accidents inside in july- maybe once every other week or so and the vet said it was probaly nothing ! then in the last month it became really common like a few times a day but only when we were home- Never when we were out < it was so weird >vet said it was behavorial and she was trying to get our attention!  then she started having them every night over night< she sleeps in bed with us! so annoying we had to change the sheets and shampoo out the materess at least once a night! then i noticed blood in her urine- we took her to our vet they gave her a pee test and said she had a uti. put her on an antibiotic and new food < they said there were crystals in her urine > 7 into the 10 day presciption she started have accidents again!!! ugh very annoyed with our old vet about various other things- ( asking us what shots she needs when we took her for her yearly appointment- you have her records not us !!! i didnt go to school to be a vet you should know not be asking us! check her records!!! oh wait it took you 45 minutes to find her records!!! etc etc and the list goes on) we took her to a new vet who did an xray and found big bladder stones! i saw the x-ray no wonder she is in such pain!!!! my poor baby! they said she needs surgery to remove them! so thats where she will be all day today! the  house feels so empty without her!

  • Poor puppy. I'm glad they found the problem and I hope she's feeling better soon.
I have a cat who gets a lot of uti's and was put on a special diet from the time he was a kitten but he still keeps getting uti's. I took him to this one vet who said it was behaviorial and that I needed to get rid of my other cat. So I took my cat to another vet, they said he has a really bad uti, so bad you could see the blood and one round of antibiotic probably wasn't going to get rid of it. He had been suffering for months while the old vet kept telling me it was because he didn't like the other cat in the house.
If you don't agree with the vet it never hurts to get a second opinion.

  • Your poor puppy!!  I would be so angry at the old vet.  I would send them a nasty gram.  I don't know if it would change anything with them, but it would make me feel a little better.

  • I agree with Cathy, send the old vet a nasty letter!! Or heck, take them your bill once your sweet baby gets done and tell them they owe it to you for not catching it and letting it get as bad as it did!!!

I'm so glad you found a vet who listened and took care of your puppy! I hope she has a speedy recovery!

  • Oh no!! Poor puppy! Hope she's feeling better soon!
  • I am so sorry that your puppy got so sick.  Shame on your old vet!  If you don't write them a letter, write a review online.  Google reviews are very reliable.  Letting others know that this vet didn't catch an illness may save someone else's pet in the future.

Thank goodness you found a great vet!  I hope your pup heals and recovers quickly!!
  • So sorry, my dog had those when she was younger. She had had surgery to remove them and had to have a special diet afterward to help prevent regrowth. She never had issues again until she started loosing control due to old age. Hope ur puppy feels better soon!
  • Thanks Ladies - MY baby is home recovering and doing much better! i know i wrote puppy but she is 5yo! she is just small and very active like a puppy!i can tell she feels much better already and once she heals from the surgery she will be back to her old self! i am sending the new vet a cake pop bouquet the pops will be cats and dog from Lucy to thank her for making her feel better!
