Housewarming/open house menu?

Hello,

DH and I are having a housewarming/open house on Saturday and I''m looking for ideas on what to serve. The party starts at 1pm so I'm leaning towards apps and some baked goodies. Any ideas for recipes? Thank you!

When we had our housewarming, I had a mixed hoagie tray & tomato pie that I picked up from a local store.  Both are served at room temperature, so I didn't have to worry about keeping them warm.  Plus, they are both easy enough to eat while standing.

For appetizers, I had a cheese & pepperoni/soppresata tray along with a veggie tray. I made Buffalo chicken dip, and kept that warm in a mini crock pot. I also had potato chips and french onion dip, because it's easy and everyone likes it.

For desserts, I just made a couple kinds of cookies. Everyone likes a cookie, and again, they are easy to eat while standing.

I would just stick with dips and apps that are minimal prep and no fuss. Things like buffalo chicken dip, homemade salsa, vivaldia onion dip are all good options because you can make them the night before and then have time to clean & prep your house before the company arrives.  Also, you will be able to focus on greeting and mingling with guests rather than being stuck in the kitchen.
  • For our housewarming, we had a backyard BBQ with various bbq foods (hamburgers, hot dogs, cold salads, etc), and some veggie subs for our vegetarian friends. A bunch of people brought desserts to the party, so we had purchased a dessert, but ended up with practically a venetian table (ha ha). Everyone enjoyed it.
