Painting Vinyl Siding

I have learned that this is very tricky to do due to the nature of vinyl siding expanding and contracting depending on the temperature. But, Sherwin Williams has a paint called VinylSafe to do this sort of job.

Has anyone used it? How were the results?

Asking because three sides of our home are vinyl siding. The front is wood. We want to paint a new color.

Re: Painting Vinyl Siding

  • Yea, i do agree with the fact that vinyl siding expands and contracts with the heat and the cold, therefore it makes painting the siding a bit challenging. One of teh most important tips while painting vinyl siding is to paint siding a color that is not darker than its current color, since a darker color of vinyl will absorb more heat.

Thanks for the reply. We are not going to do it anyway (decided it was too risky). And, we were going to go darker - it's white currently.
