France ideas

My hubby and I have decided to travel to France in May.  We are looking at visiting paris, but also wanting to tour some of the wine areas.  Any advice? Would love ideas on what to do and stay.  My hubby and I like some touristy things like the Eiffel tower for sure, but we prefer to absorb the culture.  Also budgeting ideas would also be helpful?

Re: France ideas

  • We went to Paris and the Loire Valley a few years ago. It wasn't our first trip to Paris, so we didn't feel like we had to EVERYTHING, but we saw a lot, and the Loire Valley was pretty, has good wine, and was easy to get to from Paris. I have a post about the trip in my blog.

  • Live on bread, cheese, and meat.  Yum!  We've been to Paris but lived like this when visiting Spain.  We rented an apartment so we were able to shop at the market downstairs and buy a lot of breakfast items as well as premarinated meats for dinner.  For lunch most of the time we walked into a cheese shop (that usually sold salami and other types of meat) bought a baguette and carried that around with us.  I would say go cheap on two meals and then splurge on the third.  Or, if your budget is really tight then select certain days to splurge and go cheap on the rest.
