What to do/how to handle Banquet arranged meal

Looking for feedback on what people with specific dietary restrictions do in the situation of attending an event where a banquet meal is served.  All of the food is planned out and none of it is typically foods that you eat (i.e. fried, breaded, covered in cream-based sauces, etc). I don't want to offend anyone so do I just pick at what I *can* eat (maybe some lettuce and cherry tomatoes - barely a salad) and not stay long? This is all being paid for by another party, so I'd hate to get super picky and do anything "special". Thoughts?

Re: What to do/how to handle Banquet arranged meal

  • I would just pick at what I could eat.  You didn't mention what kind of even this is but chances are nobody is going to be eyeing your plate to see exactly what you are eating or not eating so I would just relax and enjoy.
