Let's talk about your vacation.  Where are you going in Germany? How long will you be gone? We went 3 years ago and it was the best vacation ever.  Seriously.  I haven't been to Italy, but I want to so bad!

Oh my gosh!  We are going for ten days because H can't be away from the business any longer than that.  First, we are going to Munich for Oktoberfest.  We will be there for about three days and one of the girls we are traveling with knows someone who can get us VIP passes to some of the tents.  Not sure what that means because I've never been to Oktoberfest, but it sounds cool!

This same girl rented an amazing villa in Tuscany and said anyone could join her, so we're flying into Florence and driving to Tuscany from there.  We have a lot of wine tasting and sightseeing planned.  H and I are going to take off on our own one of those days and spend the day and night in Florence.  We will be in Italy for seven days, then we fly back.

There will be five of us in Germany and thirteen of us in Tuscany.  With everything I want to do, it doesn't seem like enough time!!!

And then I start my new job two days after I get back!

Oktoberfest is the most fun I have ever had.  It was pretty much a three day long beer drinking binge with lots of yummy pretzels. We only had reservations in the tents and that was great, so  I'm sure VIP tickets will be amazing.  I love that everyone there is so happy, you make friends pretty much everywhere that you go.  They have so many old fair-type rides that were a blast too.  

Your time in Italy sounds absolutely perfect.  It is exactly what I would want to do if we ever get a chance to go.  One of our friends that went to Oktoberfest with us also went to Tuscany and did a lot of biking, I told John that I would probably drink too much wine to attempt riding a bicycle anywhere.

I'm so excited for your trip and your new job!  It's definitely exclamation point worthy!

@lauren620 Just in case anything happens with our passes, how did you make reservations?  It might be too late for that now...  LOL!

@elistar Can you fit in my luggage?  Seriously.  I'd totally take you with me.

@MrsJenE  One of the guys that went with us made them really far in advance, but if something happens you shouldn't have a problem finding a table to sit at.  Once we left our reservations and went to other tents we always found somewhere to sit outside and usually could find somewhere inside depending on the tent and the time of day.

That's what I figured.  We'll be there in the middle of the week rather than the weekend, so we shouldn't have a huge problem with it if anything happens.

@MrsJenE Italy was the best vacation ever. Hands down. I LOVED Florence. If you have time, definitely go to the top of the Duomo. Breathtaking.

And the shopping! Ohhhhhhh the shopping.

@MrsJenE You'll appreciate this - I went late at night to capture night shots of the Doors of Ghiberti (across from the Duomo). We just so happened to be in Florence during Carnevale (people get ridiculously dressed up and go out drinking). I totally got photobombed by Italian Elvis, Inspector Gadget(?) and a snow leopard?



Sorry for the threadjack. You're going to have SO MUCH FUN!  I wish I could stow away in your luggage!

Um, yea!  I've already changed my phone plan to include an international plan.  I told H it's to keep in touch with family, but it's really so I can post pics.

@elistar Besides Florence, I've already told H that we need to go back to Italy in the future to hit all of those spots.  He's been to Rome, but I've never seen it.

When in Florence, you must go to Il Due Fratellini. It's a little sandwich stand that has the BEST sandwiches. Perfect for lunch or snack. Plus it's cheap and THEY HAVE A WINE BAR.
