Re: What did you read in SEPTEMBER?

  • Only 3 books this month.

The Distance Between Us - Kasie West
Open Road Summer - Emery Lord
    Winger - Andrew Smith

    I loved all of them.
I've read 41/52, so I'm not worried about making my goal.

So far this year I have read 72 books which is only 3 books away from goal.  I really wish I could make it to 100 books again this year but I don't think that will happen.

I reread HP series- in September that was the last four books.

The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd

    Run by Ann Patchett

    Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly

I should have Shadow and Bone finished today. I've been doing a lot of reading when I'm up with the baby, feeding and rocking her.

I'm at 78 books for the year. Last year I read 175 but I knew I wouldn't be able to get to that this year with a newborn. I should be able to get to 100 though.

  • I think this was the worst reading month for me in years.  I only read four books this months as it was so busy.  I went back to work after a bunch of holidays, I started school and a second job and the kids went back to school.

    I read:

The Hypnotist by Lars Keper   ***

Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard   ***

Dead Ever After by Charlaine Harris   ***

Dark Lover by JR Ward   ****

I dropped my goal and I am still 2 books behind schedule!

I found Kate to be completely arrogant and annoying.  I was fine with all the other characters but every time she spoke, I wanted to punch her in the throat.  I hope she's better in the second book. @nocturnalintimacy

    • The Sea of Tranquility – Katja Millay 9/3 (Loved this book.  It was emotional and surprising.  Truly a book of second chances.)
    • Again the Magic – Lisa Kleypas 9/5 (Quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors.  The characters are so engaging.  She just knows how to write a love story.)
    • Bared to You (Crossfire #1) – Sylvia Day 9/6 (This was a very smutty read, pretty similar formula to 50 Shades, though better written.  The main characters were definitely “damaged goods” but not stupid or outright abusive like in 50 Shades.)
    • Reflected in You (Crossfire #2) – Sylvia Day 9/8 (More of the same.  Gideon and Eva are an interesting couple but they create more drama in their relationship than they need to.)
    • Entwined in You (Crossfire #3)- Sylvia Day 9/16 (I thought this was a trilogy and was disappointed to learn that there will actually be five in the series.  Disappointed not because I necessarily want it to be over, but because the last two books aren’t out and now I have to wait forever.  Plus five is more books than it takes to tell this love story.)
    • Bossypants – Tina Fey 9/17 (Truly entertaining book by a very funny woman.  A lot of her concerns/guilt about having an only child really hit home.)
    • The Fault in Our Stars – John Green 9/20 (Total tearjerker.  But also interesting and even funny at times.)
    • Stardust – Neil Gaiman 9/24 (This was a magical story that I really enjoyed.  The ending was very satisfying for me.  I adore epilogues.)
