Do you have curtains or blinds on every window in your home?

Re: QOTD 9/30

  • So funny you asked!  We recently decided to put off buying a house for another year, so we are going to put some curtains up in the apartment since we're there to stay.  (I didn't want to put things in the walls if we weren't going to be there long.)

I literally was just online curtain shopping like an hour ago.

  • We have curtains on just about every window. All of the window coverings we have came from the previous owners of our house. We plan to replace most of them soon. We need to do something different in the current guest room/future nursery and our vertical blinds that are on our slider need to go. I want to replace those with sliding panels from Ikea.

  • Nope! Our kitchen window doesn't have anything on it, nor does our back bedroom.

  • The living room, bedroom, and office windows have blinds with curtain panels on the sides so they frame the windows.

The kitchen and bathroom windows just have blinds. I wanted to get some roman shades for the kitchen and bathroom but, since we rent, it's not worth taking down the blinds that are already there.

  • A mix. We have blinds in the living room and on the sliding door in the kitchen and curtains on all other windows.

  • We are slowly working on this. Why are curtains soooo expensive?! I need to learn to sew soon.

We put blinds in all the bedrooms this summer. Ours has binds and curtains. But only 1 panel each, I'm looking for new ones soon. H needs it dark since he works nights and sleeps days.

Just curtains in the living room. Dinning room needs something ASAP... At least binds. I'll so the front room when we actually get furniture in there.

  • We have blinds and curtains on pretty much every window.  We have curtains but no blinds on our living room windows and in one of the bedrooms because they are curved at the top.  We have blinds but no curtains in our kitchen windows.  Blinds were one of the first things we bought for our house because there were no window coverings whatsoever.  H walks around in his boxers all the time, so it was a must!

  • We have blinds and curtains in the living room and dining room.  We have nothing in the kitchen, (including sliding door), family room or our bedroom.  The other two bedrooms have blinds.  I think that my next purchase is going to be curtains for the side windows of the front door.  I had to strategically come down the stairs with no pants on this morning because they were in the dryer. :\">

  • We are slowly getting all the windows replaced a couple a year.  Our house was a foreclosure so some work needed.  So we are getting curtains as we replace each window.  It's been an expensive process.  We did the patio door first so at least we took the hardest hit first.  DH will go straight from the shower to the fridge to grab water completely nude.  I'm sure our neighbors get an eyeful of him more than they would like to.  lol!
  • We have the faux wood blinds in all the rooms except the dogs room because she ate them. We haven't replaced them because we figure 1. She will just rip them down again and 2. They were the faux wood blinds I got on sale a couple of years ago at home depot and I hate to spend full price on them now.

  • Wood blinds on all windows.  Don't have very many windows since this is a town house, but we're building a house now.  Definitely going for curtains and blinds in the new house!

  • The previous homeowners left blinds up on every window (even basement window) and Venetian blinds on both sliding glass doors to deck and in basement. I hate blinds but husband loves them, feels they keep things more private. I put up curtains on every window in the house so all our windows have both blinds and curtains!
  • I have wood blinds on every window, except in the bathroom.  Our bathroom window is frosted and you can't see through it.  If we ever find a house, I will definitely have blinds in the bedrooms and bathrooms.  I would want privacy, but I'm not sure if I would have blinds on every window.  Maybe curtains, but I'm not a hug curtain fan.

When figuring things out like this, I wish I could afford an interior designer...

@mana8503, my mom made a bunch of curtains for our house using flat bed sheets when I was a kid.  She can sew, but she isn't the most amazing.  She would sew a loop so she could thread the rod through and have curtains.
  • Well we just bought our house and they didn't leave much behind. There was one bedroom where they left blinds and then they left some in a closet in the second guest bedroom. We realized our first night that we needed them ASAP because our bedroom and bathroom didn't have them and our windows are on the front of the house!! We sleep naked (sorry if it's TMI!!) and obviously you're not typically fully clothed in the bathroom....We got that rectified already! We also bought some for our dining room because we noticed Sunday that without them the house got up to 80 from the sun shining through. I don't have curtains yet, but I want them!

  • @xxjen015 YES, our apartment faces West and in the evening it's BOILING if we leave the blinds open.
