PCOS?

Has anyone else been diagnosed with PCOS? If so, does anyone know of a good PCOS diet plan to follow?

Re: PCOS?

  • I think PCOS is the biggest concern for me too, according to me, having a basic awareness of what "good nutrition" means and what is going into your body and regular exercise is good enough for PCOS women.
  • I was diagnosed in May, the biggest thing I've seen/read about is watching your carbs. I don't have the insulin resistant kind (yet) but don't want to risk developing that. Pretty much limit your meals to 45 grams of carbs and snacks to 15g. It's not too hard to follow but you do have to think about it.

  • I've been diagnosed with PCOS but I'm not insulin resistant either. I am carb sensitive though. I avoid processed sugars as much as possible and carbs at dinner and have noticed it has made a big difference. Dr Natasha Turner (ND) has a few good books on the topic if you're interested

  • I have eliminated most simple sugars as well as watch my carb intake and eliminated dairy because it can be high in sugar.
  • I have PCOS and it sucks. Right after I was put on Metformin, we found out that my husband is 100% sterile but I stayed on the Metformin because of what it did for my body. I dropped 46 pounds without even trying - just letting the meds regulate my insulin issues. I've been reading a lot about Chris Powell's carb cycling and my doctor recommended that I give it a try so I'm going to start on Saturday. I've found that the less carbs I eat, the better I feel.
