Outfits for a newborn in winter...
We live in northeastern Pennsylvania and January/February tend to be bitterly cold some days. Last winter we went 5 days with temperatures near zero, it was awful.
My MIL bought us a snow suit to "bring baby home in", but I'm not so sure it's something that can be worn in a car seat. It's relatively thick and plushy. Not to mention, it's 0-3 months so, it could end up huge on the kid.
Do I need a winter coat for an infant? Can I just use blankets and avoid the outside? I'm totally okay with avoiding the outside in the winter!
So, I guess my question is... Winter mommies - what did you do?

I plan on doing a lot of the fleece union suits and 3 piece sets that I've seen around, mostly from Target cause I get all my clothes there.
Snowsuits are a no in car seats. The puffiness makes it so the straps don't sit snuggly and baby wouldn't be protected in a crash. I see a lot of people just do fleece blankets tucked around the baby after they are buckled in or the car seat covers. I registered for the Bundle Me by JJ Cole.
5 cats. 1 baby.
You just want to make sure that they are like a shower cap and go over the top, not behind the baby. As PP mentioned snowsuits really aren't safe to wear in the car seat plus I think your baby would overheat. My son was always so hot in his car seat, even in the winter. I would keep the cover on only while walking to the car and then I had to open it up for the ride or he would be drenched in sweat. I mostly kept him in the sleep n plays during the winter and that was what I brought him home from the hospital in as well.
To make you feel my love.
I noticed that when I was looking at the website. I don't think that's the one I registered for. I'll need to look at it again next time I'm in the store. I thought it was the one that just went over the car seat. Thanks!

No problem! R was born in January and I really worried about him keeping warm but it worked out great!
