Re: UO Thursday!!

  • I hate it when people use hashtags anywhere other than twitter(which I don't belong to) if I see one more gosh dang hashtag on my facebook or as a text I'm gonna hit someone. JUST. STOP.

Have you seen the YouTube video with JT about hashtags?
  • Lol no. I'll look it up :-)

Hashtags do work on Facebook and Instagram. I'm not saying they aren't annoying, because they are, but they do now serve a purpose.
  • I hate gender reveal parties where the couple already knows the sex. In general, I think they can be a fun, exciting way to find out together with your friends and family... But if you already know, it's just a little too AW-y for me.

I HATE the idea of gender reveal parties with a passion.  What happened to nice, private moments anymore!  People are plenty excited when you just tell them without having everyone look at balloons, cupcakes, etc. etc.!

It's almost like the idea that unless its on FB or Instagram, it didn't happen.  I think it's sad :(

I'm with you, ILRV.  I think they can be cute (as long as it's a surprise to EVERYONE and it's kept mostly to family/close friends), especially for a second child when the parents may not be having a shower.  I think all babies should be celebrated in some way.

  • I have no prob with gender reveal parties if it's family only, but the big parties are silly. I also think 1st birthday parties (other than family ones and maaaaybe super close friends) are pointless too. I should say that tho since I've been hired as a photog for a few of those and made $$ off the obsessive parents lol!

Also, my phone tried to correct "obsessive" to "obese sauce". Ha.

I am anti-hashtags too. Probably bc for so long they WERE useless on FB. I know they function now, but the damage is done lol...

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

unless their twitter and facebook is linked, and what they post to twitter is posted to facebook through twitter... then I let it slide. buuut... no.

and plus, hashtags are now like sentences without spaces between the words? wtf? like #ilovefallweatheritssoniceoutside. vs a simple #fall or someshit.

I sound very #getoffmylawn so I'll leave now. lol

    Fixed that for you.

  • In general, I'm not a huge hashtag person.  When hashtags started invading FB (before they were useful on FB) one of my old co-workers and I had a side bet to see who could get the most people to use verbal hashtags, so obviously I'm entirely to blaim for the whole verbal thing. Clearly.

I can count the number of times I have used hashtags (or, ahem, the pound sign) on FB on one hand.  Namely, 2. Both were during events that established a certain hashtag to use to tag pics, etc. (#PMC2013, for example).

Basically, while I admit they can be useful, #moreoftenthannottheyaren't.

  • I agree that pregnancy and having a baby has just become way too AW-ey. Obviously it's a sensitive topic for me, but I felt this way before I was TTC/3T. I also HATE gender reveal parties. It just comes across as so narcissistic. I still think @Iloveredvino and I can be friends though.

    My own UO:

I think it's weird when people post on FB the day of or immediately after their weddings. Like when people update their status to "married" and change their names the same day or while on their honeymoon. Can't you just enjoy your wedding and new spouse before having to connect with the world? I recently had a "friend" update his relationship status before the reception was even over. He later posted a picture of his new wife lying in bed in their hotel room. It was a total overshare.

Um, yeah, that's too much. Weird. We didn't turn our phones on at all during the two weeks of our honeymoon/wedding.
