How do you layer your lasagna?

I've always layered with one last set of noodles (3 noodle layers total) and a thin layer of sauce on top. I reread the recipe I always use this morning and realized it doesn't say to do that. It says to end with the sauce layer, no last layer of noodles. I looked up a couple other lasagna recipes and same story. Have I been doing it wrong all these years?!

Yeah I usually end with noodles with a thin layer of sauce (so the noodles don't burn/get crunchy) and a little cheese.

I know some people actually like the little crunch from the top noodles, but make sure you do a layer of sauce.  I actually use a recipe that replaces the noodles with layers of zucchini/yellow squash cut lengthwise. Trust me, it's tasty.

I layer it like this.

Thin layer of sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, meat sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozarella, meat sauce, Parmesan.

I had a friend who ended with just sauce on top and her noodles ended up crunchy on the edges.
