Halloween costume creation

Is anyone else here making any Halloween costumes or altering something or otherwise crafting for Halloween? Just curious if anyone wants to check-in with each other to stay motivated.

I'm trying to do about an hour or so on Heather's Merida dress most nights. We have very little free weekend time lately and we're going to ZooBoo on the 20th, so I'm hoping that slow and steady will get me there.

The bodice is done except for the zipper and I started the sleeves last night. Getting there!

Re: Halloween costume creation

  • Not this year. I took the easy road to the Rapunzel costume. It is sorta weird to have no halloween deadline outside of buying pumpkins and candy. But I am eager to see H's most excellent Merda costume! With sewing I always most hate the pattern pinning/cutting. And much prefer the sewing. And especially hate all the ironing. Which is why I don't sew more stuff through the year.
  • I did have a Saturday a few weeks ago to get all of the piece cutting done in one day and I've taken over the dining room table to have the sewing machine and iron out all the time.

I have some clothing alterations in the mending pile, so I'm hoping to motivate myself to get those done before I put the machine away...

  • Oooh, and maybe this will be the year I finally sew a skirt for under the Christmas tree...

  • I still can't get my kid to commit to a costume.  Thank God I'm not in charge of making it myself, I'll be lucky if I can find one in the store to buy this year by the time he finally decides what he wants to be!!

  • We went through that last year with Todd. We spent about two hours staring at the big wall of costumes at Party City until he finally settled on Spider-Man. This year he chose Batman early, but I haven't bought it yet...
