WIJFR: The Shining (ns) - LOVED!

Ok, seriously. This is now my new favorite SK book! I could not put it down! It was the perfect mix of dark, creepy, and strange. I never was really terrified, but it definitely had me on edge a couple times waiting to see what happened next. I've never seen the movie, but I think I'll watch it just to compare. I'm sure it will be nowhere near as good as the book though (like usual). I am going to start Doctor Sleep tonight to continue the story.

Can't wait for you other ladies reading it to finish so we can have a spoilers post!

    I'm glad you loved it!!

I'm only on Ch. 13 but after tonight my week should calm down a bit- hopefully!

  • I just said to Hoycie (and maybe others here will have an opinion). Part of what made Dr. Sleep so amazing was the "nostalgia" of going back to the story. I don't know that you'll get that going right from The Shining into Dr. Sleep- but that could just be my opinion.

  • Yay!! Such a good book. FYI, the movie doesn't follow the book well. I was not a fan, but who knows, you may like it.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that. I think I'm just still on such a high from The Shining that I wanted to continue the story right away to see what happens with Danny. Curious to see if others have thoughts on it, too. I could always put a couple books in between.

  • I'm on Chapter 27, and I'm really enjoying it though I hope the latest scene doesn't haunt my sleep tonight.  Room 217....

  • Love, love, love. This is one book I wish I could go back and read for the first time again.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.
