I love my doctor. She is dry and sarcastic, just like me. We will get along famously.
Okay, now to the good stuff. She confirmed that all my numbers and DH's numbers look great. She said we could do whatever we wanted, IUI or IVF. I told her we were ready for the big guns, and she agreed that it would be the fastest route to the desired end result. She didn't think we'd need ICSI, but she said if we wanted to do it, we could. DH wants to do a cycle without it first, especially since we don't have any history that implies we need ICSI.
I am going to be on a Long-Cycle Lupron Protocol, starting Lupron on day 21, and then stimming with Gonal F and Menopur. I'll have the Novarel trigger and start Progesterone. It doesn't look like that much on the paper, but now that it's typed out, holy cow!
She recommended that DH come in to cryopreserve his sperm so that we have it on hand on the day of ER. I expressed my concerns regarding his past attempts, and she said there were lots of options. When I talked to DH after, he was willing to go into their office to try and thought that a "no pressure" situation of cryopreserve would help ease his anxiety. We'll see.
I signed all the consent paperwork, and DH needs to sign it, but we're looking at probably starting next cycle! Day 21 of this cycle is next week, and I think it's too soon to get everything going and be mentally prepared. That puts us at a start date for Lupron just before Thanksgiving (probably). Perhaps we'll be starting the new year with a BFP!
Thanks again for all the well wishes and recommendations for questions. I didn't even get to ask many of them because the doctor answered them all in her spiel!
ETA: Given all the good gut feelings I'm having, I am thinking about canceling my consult with the other doc. I'm concerned about him handling ALL the IVF patients at this clinic in addition to the other problems I've had with them. This new place has a group of people who only work with my doc that I can call 7 days a week.
