Gulf Shores Alabama for spring break?

Anyone been to Gulf Shores?  I was thinking Gulf Coast of Florida but from what I can tell, there is no guarantee water will be warm enough to swim in either location in mid-late March and I thought the Alabama Coast might be cheaper?  Definitely would be a shorter drive...

Re: Gulf Shores Alabama for spring break?

  • The water is still a little chilly in March, but the weather should be great for laying on the beach.  Weather is the same for both, but Florida panhandle definitely has the Gulf Shore beaches beat.  I really recommend Destin.  Rooms during Spring Break will probably be a little bit more expensive in Destin, but you might be able to find a deal if you start looking now.  If it's not much, I'd pay a litle more for the better beach/water.  The water is much clearer towards Floriday.  They don't call it the Emerald Coast for nothing!
