Just Moved!

Hello everyone :)
My fiance and I just moved to St Augustine from Dayton, Ohio and it has been so, so hard to meet people. I work in an office with 2 other people, so I can't really make "friends" at work. We go out every weekend and even some during the week, but I feel so intimidated by people. I can meet guys easily, which my fiance doesn't love, but I can't just walk up to girls and be like "Hey! Wanna be friends?!" I'm not that person.

In Ohio, we used to have themed parties, get togethers, football sundays, birthday parties for all of our friends, etc and I miss that. Any advise on what to do, or anyone having the same problem? I know it is a big move and it will take time, but sometimes all I need is a girl to talk to and get pedicures with!

HELP!

Re: Just Moved!

  • I know I'm a little late to post, but I figured you might see this anyway.
I completely understand how you feel about the whole "Hey, wanna be friends" thing. The only way I've made the friends I have here in Jacksonville (about 30 minutes away from St. Aug) was through work and school, but that doesn't seem to be an option for you. Many of my friends who lived in St. Augustine ended up coming to Jacksonville every weekend to hang out/meet people until they finally moved here.

My advice would be to do something similar to what you already seem to be doing. Go online and find meetups/group/boards that you find relevant to your interests and go from there. If you have any other questions or want to know of some awesome places in the area you can send me a private message on here!

  • I just moved here to Nocatee from Michigan and I am in the same boat. whenever I talk to me friends back home i just feel like a big complainer, it doesn't hit you till you get here. I am pretty alone most of the day and I am in charge of a million decisions with getting our house up to par. I feel  like I am going to go crazy... Most of the people I meet have kids, and we will hopefully start trying but as of now I feel a bit lost..
  • Hello Everyone!  I'm new to Jacksonville too.  My husband and I just moved to Fruit Cove a year ago from upstate NY.  We LOVE the area, but still haven't made many friends yet.  Between working full time and getting our house in order we haven't had much free time to join clubs or anything.  I've noticed routines are a great way to meet people.  We could start our own meet up group and just grab a coffee on a Saturday or something.  Let me know!  :)
