Wedding rings

Did you ladies get to a point where you had to take off your wedding rings because they got too tight? How far along were you? I think i have to officially retire my engagement ring. My wedding band is ~1/2 a size bigger, so that one's still holding on. I'm really kind of bummed about it though :(

  • Yep. It was later in the third tri. I started to get swelling at 34 weeks and around 36 I stopped wearing my rings.

  • Around 35 weeks I had to take my rings off. It was awhile after M was born that I could get them back on.

  • I think I was around 32 or 34 weeks when I stopped wearing mine.

  • Both times it's been about 4/5 months. I miss them :o( But I just wear a silver band on that finger. Apparently, people get judgey if they see a pregnant lady without a ring on "that" finger. Really? Lame.

  • My wedding band is smaller than my engagement ring so I had to stop wearing that one on my ring finger and put it on my pinkie finger instead.  Swelling at the end was a lot worse with Zack than with Delilah since he was born in summer as opposed to winter like his sis, so I switched it a lot sooner.  It also took a month or so before I could get them back on after delivery even though my weight was less, swelling was still an issue.

  • It was right after my shower, so I think about 32 weeks (?).

  • I am dreading this. At almost 19 weeks they are getting tighter, but it also might be the warm weather we are still having. I hope to get away with it for as long as possible since we are heading into winter.

If not, I'll buy a band in a 1/2 size-size bigger from kohls or something and just wear that. I really don't want to not wear anything at all. I figure something like this would be fine. http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-193706/sterling-silver-clear-crystal-eternity-band-ring.jsp

My RH fingers are bigger than my LH, so I can turn it into a RH ring after.

  • Yup.  I had to ditch my e-ring about halfway through 3rd tri, I think.  My wedding band made it until a few weeks before the end.  Actually the first thing I had to quit wearing was my watch because my wrists were swollen.  I wore my rings on a chain around my neck once they didn't fit.  It was about a month or so after he was born (I can't really remember because I don't wear my rings at home anyway and I wasn't going anywhere) before I could get them on comfortably.

  • My engagement ring has been off for quite some time. My wedding band has stayed off for at least 2 months...I decided after a 5-minute battle involving cold water and ice to get it off that it wasn't going back on.

I thought about getting a cheap band to wear in its place, but figured if people think I'm a single mom and want to judge me for it, they can go right ahead. IDGAF. Clearly they suck anyway if they are that judgmental.

I do miss having something pretty on my finger though.

  • Fairly early with DS, but when you gain 50 lbs that's going to happen.

I'm still wearing my rings now at almost 26 weeks and I hope to wear them for a while.

  • My engagement ring still fits and my wedding band has been a hit or miss since the end of the 1st tri. My hands aren't always swollen so I can still put them both on every once in a while.

  • I think I took them off and wore them around my neck around Christmas so like 25 weeks. I had swelling in my hands way worse than my feet ever did.

I have the tiniest fingers. My wedding band/engagement ring are a 3 1/4 by 36 weeks a size seven was a little snug. It took over a year for my rings to fit again but my DH bought me a size 4 engagement ring that I wore in the meantime.

  • I wore mine through delivery as well. My hands didn't swell bad so I had no issues with them. It's likely a case by case thing.
