Why are people so rude? (Venting and honestly.....stupid)

SO, this is a total venting post....but why do people have to be so mean?  I was in my friend's car last night with the windows rolled down and my pup in my lap.  He is a Shih-tzu and an amazing dog (honestly...whether you like big dogs, small dogs, hairy dogs, or bald dogs....he is super special.  I know I am bias...but he has an old soul).  Anywho, these people (four guys) started smiling and talking when one of them said "Hey, you're dog is pretty ugly!".  WTF.  I mean, I know this person is just an ignorant a$$, but it just makes me mad.  I work in education so I obviously can't go around "giving people a piece of my mind", b/c I am pretty sure I would run into trouble with my job if I did so.  When the hell did "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all." go out the window.  Or better yet, when did parents stop being parents and start raising these rude, disrespectful, low life, ignorant punks.  Honestly, when grow men have to cut down a 17 pound dog...it makes you wonder what people are raising/what people are thinking/and if they are from another planet.  JERKS.

  • Typical male assholes, ragging on the little dogs.

I'm sorry they couldn't have been nicer. Your dog is, I'm sure, adorable, especially in your eyes as his mama!

To each their own, but they certainly could have kept their opinions to themselves.

  • Ugh.

I saw a dog the other day at  the shelter. He was a poorly bred collie.

He had a patchy coat and his muzzle was much too long. His eyes were 2 different sizes and they didn't even look like they were in the right place -- too far down on the face.

His ears? Don't ask. Were stubs.

There was something special about that guy. "A face a mother could only love" used to be the old school expression  --- I didn't think he was misshapen, or unattractive.  Something special about him.

Shame on those 2 guys. Pick on someone yer own size, douchebags.
  • I think they were probably just looking for an excuse to be jerks.  Whether your dog is cute or not, they still would've thought it was cool to say that he isn't.  Just saying, don't take it personally, they were just being assholes for the sake of being assholes.

Manners are a huge deal for our family, I would die if I found out that our kids were behaving as such when they're grown.

  • I know what you mean. I get really worked up sometimes when people act uncivilized. Like when the guy in the row behind us decided to charge out of the airplane instead of letting my SIL and BIL out of their seats...but in that case, he did get a piece of my mind. As a whole, it definitely seems like our society's standards for acceptable behavior are constantly getting lower. Maybe they were just drunk, or maybe they're just losers starving for attention.

  • Thanks for your support and replies everyone.  :)  Sorry for the delay...don't get a chance to post much.
  • I don't understand why people feel the need to voice their opinions where they aren't asked for.  Stupid jerks, probably were too scared to insult someone who would fight back.
