f/u my sister's an idiot

So she ended up coming and my grandparents picked her up at the train- no, they weren't overly excited about it.

Fast Forward to Sunday. She was supposed to go to a tree planting in memory of her friend's brother who died last year. It was at 1:00. The plan was for her to go home with my dad and her friend pick her up. Well, 12:00 at my house she says she's going to stay (meaning I can take her to the tree thing), but she's going to exercise for a while and then get a shower.

"Um, K... isn't the thing at 1:00? I'd think we'd have to leave here by 12:40 at the latest."

"Oh, I'll just go a little late."

I then explained to her that you can't roll in late to a FUNERAL type thing. So she goes and gets dressed. By the time she gets there it is 1:30 and obviously the people are back in the woods planting the tree. So she expected me to sit in the car with her until they came out. Mind you I expected to be home by 1:00 when I offered to take her....because that is the ONE time of day that both girls sleep at the same time. I usually get about 45 minutes. But no. I got home at 2:20.

So while it was nice that she came home, I just can't wrap my mind around how she rationalizes things. Who plans to go late to a MEMORIAL SERIVCE!!!???

  • Oh wow. I think I'd take my chances and stay home alone all weekend. Can I ask how old she is?

  • Sounds like she has some growing up to do... And learn the world doesn't stop everything for her.

It's your last sentence that amazes me....Who plans to go late for something like that??? How old is she?

  • She's 24. But the best part is, she's SUPER smart. She got a 4.0 at Catholic University. She works at a huge international law firm in DC and her job involves planning and running events. Um...she can plan stuff but she can't get to a funeral on time?

Another good one- she asked to use my car to go get coffee on Sunday morning. She doesn't have the best driving record so I always am hesitant, but I said yes. Wawa is a mile from my house. 45 minutes later, after her not answering my 5 texts or 3 phone calls, she waltzes in. She took my car to the gas station and vacuumed it- which is nice- but she was annoyed that I was not thrilled at her taking my car for 45 minutes when she should have been gone 5.

  • Some people just kinda live in their own world. My sister is the same exact way, smart as hell school and job wise but zero common sense or respect for anyone else's time.

  • I'm just shaking my head at all of this.
