We need a post today!   So, post your randoms!

Re: Tuesday Randoms

  • Our microwave broke last week, and I have been hopelessly lost without it.  I had no idea how much I relied on that thing!  It's an above-the-stove one....I also had no idea how pricey those things are!!  ugh.  what an annoying purchase to have to make.

This will sound crazy, but look at Ikea. We bought ours when we got our cabinets and they were actually cheaper than Lowes & Home Depot. And they are Whirlpool appliances

I am super excited for my shopping find! I don't have many places for premium denim around but have checked out Lord & Taylor. They sometimes even have stuff on clearance. This weekend they only had 2 random jeans on clearance. One happened to be Paige petite skyline bootcut in my size. I have never tried Paige before so figured they wouldn't fit but they were perfect! Still need hemmed but otherwise I love them. They ended up being $35!!! Normally about $170! I got a pair of AG jeans a few months ago this way as well. Clearance for $35 again normally around $170! I feel like I am going to stalk Lord & Taylor from now on!

I have never been witness to shop lifting before that I know of and it's now happened twice in the last week! Ulta last week and some guy trying to steal purfumes. Cops came and got him. Sephora the other day I thought I saw a girl pocket something but wasn't 100% sure. Few mins later security shows up and starts walking around watching. Not sure if they finally caught her or not.

  • 1 - Our dryer is finally fixed after 6+ weeks of hanging things to dry. It is awesome to no longer feel bad for dirtying clothes. DH and I have been washing everything in sight and we'll finally be caught up in a few days. Though now the piles of clean clothes to be folded and put away are getting to me. :-)

2 - We've done a lot of fun things the past two months and many of those things have involved a lot of weekend time away from home. Between being away and working on Heather's costume, this house is messy and I miss just being at home and hanging out. I'll be home with the kids on Friday, and I plan to stay at home or in our neighborhood ALL DAY. Can't wait!

3 - I desparately want some new clothes, but too many other things are competing for my time right now.

4 - The zipper on my gorgeous knee high boots is still broken and it is making me super sad that I can't wear them in this lovely fall weather.

5 - We are doing our family pictures at Point State Park this weekend, and I plan to get at least a few with the duck. :-)

  • Even though I had an hour meeting this morning, today feels like it is DRAGGING.  Will it ever be 4pm?  I don't think so.

This is the last week of soccer practices and a soccer game on Saturday.  I will be SO happy to not have to rush around 3 evenings a week to get to the field.
  • My daughter is sleeping! Alleluia!  She has slept through the night almost every night since we started a sticker chart.  Who would have thought a sticker chart would be the magical answer to this never ending problem.

  • Kris-i never would have thought to look at IKEA...thanks for the heads up!

  • Yay for you Lala!   A sticker chart system worked wonders for keeping Brody in his bed!  I'm glad it helped you, too.
  • i had a sucky run today.  blah. but at least I got out, right?

I braved the unknown yesterday and took EJ for a blood draw so we can get some idea of her allergies on a scale which we can compare over time to see if she has any improvement (previously we had just done skin tests).  This is the girl who screamed for 10 minutes before her 2012 flu shot. So having a blood draw worried me.  However, while she was scared and stressed we were able to get the vials they needed and she was rewarded with a new lego set.  Yes, bribery for blood. I am not ashamed.
  • Amanda-there is never anything to be ashamed about when it comes to bribery.  it is a necessary evil of parenting, I've decided!!

So did you ask it why? :P

April, isn't Lord & Taylor great? I loved it when it was in Pgh; it's a shame it didn't make it in the city, but I think it was too pretty and intimidating for the marke (among other reasons).

Kris is just a plethora of random knowledge on top of her auto knowledge!). I would have never thought to check out Ikea! The things I learn...

So, I'm sitting in NYC on a business trip and I really miss the East Coast. My aunt and cousin came into the city to visit tonight, and it made me realize how much I'm not really "into" Texas and I blame DH for it. I know we're fortunate that he has better work available to him and that if anything happens to my job, the economy and job market in Houston is seriously booming, but it sucks. I moved a couple of times growing up, so you'd think I'd be used to it. *sigh*

I think it is easier to move when you are younger. We moved a lot when I was young and my dad worked for Chrysler. By the time I was 7, I lived in MD, MA, MI, IL, and PA. Then when I was is 6th grade we moved to another school district and three months later we moved to WI, then we moved back to PA when I was in 8th grade.

When your young, you go to school and make new friends. I definitely think it was harder for my mom since she stayed home with us.

  • Aww Clare! It takes time! I moved because of dh and had a very hard time adjusting. And it's hard to have that added level of blaming your dh (I had that too!) It wasn't a huge move but definitely different type of area and just not having family and friends around. I think I read it takes a few years for a new place to really feel like home.

It did take awhile to adjust for sure! It's been almost 10 years now though! My major complaint is the weather otherwise I adjusted.

We got ours from Amazon for a decent price and were able to get free shipping on it too.
