Does anyone have a DSLR, and if so do you ever take if off the automatic mode? And if you do take the pictures manually, was it that hard to learn the lenses and aperture and all of that stuff?
I'm debating asking for one for Christmas, but I haven't used an actual camera since I've had an iPhone. I just don't know how practical it would be, and if I should just stick to my phone or get a better point and shoot one. I would like to start taking better quality photos of the kids, especially on holidays and vacations.
Sorry for the ramble lol.

That's what I got.
I have a Canon P90X. Its a DSL not a DSLR though. I would start with something like that unless you really know what you are doing. There is probobly a $300-$400 price difference between a DSL and a DSLR as well depending on brand. My camera has all kind of different settings takes really great pictures when I take the time to change them. The main difference besides price is the amount of pixels the photo holds and how fast the shutter speed is. The pictures are clearer and brighter and you have more options for better pictures with lower light and night shots. The DSL adjustments are all digital, the DSLR are a mix. You change all the settings digitally, but adjust the lense by hand instead of a button.
You could always go to a camera shop and ask. They would have more knowledge than someone at Best Buy.
