kitchen paint color- need advice!

We just moved in to our house a few months ago. Our kitchen is painted white. We have oak-color cabinets and blue/gray counter tops. Our living room next to the kitchen is painted tan. I was thinking I'd like to paint the kitchen an off-white or beige or gray, but i just cannot find a good color! Beiges are usually too pink or too yellow. Gray is too dark a lot of the time. Any suggestions for a good light, fresh color to link a tan living room with blue counter tops??

How about something in the blue family? Also, not all grays are dark.

My kitchen has gray tiles on the floor, white cabinets, and a dark blue/gray counter.  The walls are a gray-blue in a medium-light color.  That color looks great and I think would be a good fit for your situation.

The blue family medium/light sounds really good... There's a great color I know would work- it was in the advertisement for our kitchen table we bought... Now just to convince DH that WHITE and OFF WHITE are not the only colors!!

Thank you for the idea for a blue color on the walls, i went on the Houzz site and everyone with blue countertops has a light bluish/gray on their walls... which would look really nice next to my living room color, i think... now I just have to put that all together and make it flow! Thanks for sending me in that direction!
