How long did you all wait after getting married before you started to TTC?

We started TTC 6 months before we got married. We have now been married 4 months.

We stopped using protection and were in the 'if it happens it happens' camp years before we got married.

3 months. We got married in October and were going to go to a food and wine festival in July, so we decided to start TTC after that.  Then in December when the line-up of chefs for the festival was published, we decided not to go.  So, we started in January.

This is way too personal a question for you to get a consistent answer. You and your husband both need to be ready, and that can come at vastly different times for different people.

We just stopped preventing last month and were married in June. The wait was more to finish up some projects on our new house. Since we lived together prior to getting married and dating for over 7 yrs, we didn't feel the need to wait or have 'us' time. It really depends though.

We did wait 3 months before we stopped using protection.  But we are now on year 6 with no babies in sight.

One year. But like luckyangel said, this is all irrelevant because my pre-marriage status could be totally different from yours.

We were together for 4 years and we lived together for 3 years by the time we got married, so 5 years of "us" time before trying. That was important to us. It could be different for you.

One year-ish? We didnt get married until we were ready to start a family.

We started trying before the wedding. We started trying in May of 2010 got married that August.

We waited awhile and started trying a couple months before our 4th wedding anniversary.

About 5 1/2 years. We had dated about 7 years before we got married and lived together about 3 years before getting married.

We loved our years of only us and traveled tons.

About three months to NNT, and six months to TTC. Ditto what PPs said though, it's irrelevant unless you know the whole story, and it's going to be different for everyone. We were together 4 years before we got married, we own a home, and are stable financially. All was important to us before TTC.

We waited until we were financially stable, had a good home to raise a baby in, we were both accomplished in our careers and were very strong in our marriage. In our case we waited a year but in retrospect I don't even think we were ready then.

We waited a year. We initially were going to wait 5 years, but thing changed and I was ready.

Pretty sure there wasn't anything in the question about doing what everyone else does. We're all adults here and should be treated as such.

I'm surprised by how many started trying before they were married. I know many IRL as well. Not passing judgement in any way, just find it interesting is all.

Welcome back....I think the reason she said this is because OP is someone that has never posted on here before.  It IS a personal question for someone to just come on here and ask.  It was not an attack on the OP.  Thanks for understanding, MH1006!

We plan to start trying immediately after the wedding. I think my bcp pill pack will run out the week after the wedding, and that will be the last one until after a baby comes.
