Phanatic

How did you end up going to Disney this weekend?

Re: Phanatic

  • That's a crazy story, actually.

My in laws celebrated their 44th anniversary on October 11. At the end of September, MIL emailed me & asked if they could take the boys to Disney World for their anniversary the following weekend because D had a day off of school. Then she emailed me back & asked if he could miss a day of school so they could go on their actual anniversary. I told her he had two days off the following week (Oct 17&18), so that would be ideal. She booked the trip then.

And then FIL got sick. They both spent their anniversary having medical tests done. He started to feel better Saturday & by Sunday he was feeling back to himself save some pain in his shoulder. On Monday, he was still wavering about whether or not he wanted to go because it had rained so much that work was really backed up. My DH was all prepared to cover for FIL for two days so they could go away, but after talking with his doctor, MIL agreed that the worst thing that could happen to FIL was for him to have a kidney stone attack on an airplane or end up in the hospital in another state.

Anyway, MIL finally accepted that he wasn't going to go & asked me if I would be able to get off of work on Thursday. I was, so I got on a plane with MIL & my boys on Wednesday. We came back on Saturday.

It was a whirlwind & I never want to do a trip there for such a short time again. We had fun, though. The boys were absolutely thrilled to go back (we took them last year). Neither of them knew until Wednesday just before we left. That part was pretty cool.
  • That is so cool!

Poor FIL though, is he still feeling better?

  • Wow, sounds like fun, but I hope FIL is feeling better!

  • that is so cool, but your poor FIL.  how is he doing?
  • Thank you for asking. He seems to be feeling better, but he still looks like crap. He stopped by on Sunday afternoon while we were all resting & I just wanted to give him a hug & tell him to find a new doctor who will be able to tell him what's been going on for the past couple of years. They've already been to Johns Hopkins, but I think MIL is ready to start pushing for the Mayo Clinic.
  • I'm sorry to hear about FIL.
  • Wow- that's crazy! Glad you guys had fun :)
