Re: CPW- How many trick or treaters?

  • What does SS mean?

This technically will be our first year giving out candy since last year we got stuck in Aruba thanks to Hurricane Sandy. That and Halloween was essentially cancelled because of the storm. We shall see how many kids we get this year, but I picked up 2 ginormous bags of candy which should hopefully be enough.

  • This will be our first Halloween in our new place, so I have no idea what to expect.  H and I were talking about it last night and we are considering either going out or not turning the light on.  I feel like such a grinch saying that, but we have a 100 lb golden retriever who goes nuts every time the doorbell rings and I'm just not sure I want to put us or the dog through that.

  • Last year we hit a new record high of .. 3.

  • 25-50, at least. We live in a very kid-friendly neighborhood, one where the scheduled trick-or-treat hours are from 6-8:30. The first year we lived here, H had to go out and buy more candy. So we'll see how many come this year.

  • I chose SS because the past 2 years we have lived in our house a super storm has hit each year on Halloween. So there have been zero trick or treaters for us so far... :-(

I did go out and buy a couple decorations and some candy just in case.

  • I picked I don't even turn on the light because we don't get any trick or treaters:( I wish we did though.

I'll go over to SIL's house to watch all the kidos though!

  • As I said in the other CP thread, they don't have trick or treat on our street. It's really sad especially when we have kids and we have to go to other neighborhoods to trick or treat. There aren't a whole lot of kids on our street I guess and most of them are older.

  • I picked 50-75, but I really can't remember (despite being here for Halloween for the last 5 years). I feel like we got fewer last year (or the year before?). I tend to give out double the candy though, because 1 fun-size piece just feels stingy.

  • I'm not sure since we just moved. I do know that I will SERIOUSLY miss our old neighborhood. Halloween was like a HUGE block party.. kids everywhere! Easily 150-200! It was amazing. I hope we have a lot, but I really don't know if we will or not. I'll be sad if we don't :(

In Christ alone my hope is found. He is my LIGHT, my STRENGTH, and my SONG!

Seriously this is awesome! It wouldn't work for us though as our fire pit is stone and recessed in the ground.  DH wants to eventually turn our yard into a graveyard and our sun porch into a haunted house. We would LOVE to have that many people come by!

My sister does this too; I think it's a great idea!  She has my nieces (7 and 4) hand out candy, which is really cute.  The girls really love it. Plus, they don't have to worry about walking around or the girls getting so much candy that they either can't or shouldn't eat for allergy reasons.

  • At our old house there was over 100. Last year in this house like 10. We were super surprised bc we're right down the street from an elementary school. I guess it's too much effort to cross over the greenbelt. Now I buy candy that I like in case we have extra, haha.

  • None :((  I always buy candy, hoping that the kids that I know live in our building will come around, but I think we just don't live in a neighborhood where people go trick or treating.

But it's alright, we're having friends over for a Halloween party, so there will be other people to eat the candy instead of just DH and I!
