Follow up to who's the ass :)
Thanks for all the input ladies! I'm not going to detail every aspect of my finances here, but I will say to those who suggested it that we do have a financial planner and we are in very good shape although I sucked at explaining that. We have a 10 year mortgage, and a 5 year truck payment (that's the debt I mentioned). That's it. We also have various investments. For being 30 and 29, I say that's pretty stable. This was a petty cash issue, I forgot to transfer money over into what we call our "petty cash" account. All that being said, we talked last night, and DH still wants to go after he calmed down. I put a call into my bank and have an auto reminder coming to me now of upcoming scheduled bills. I also have agreed to never let that account drop below a set amount and adjusted our bi weekly cash transfer accordingly. Lastly, we had a convo about the "parenting" issue (someone used that term, loved it!) and that I didn't like the idea of being "grounded" for making a stupid mistake and DH agreed it was a stupid move. All is well
Thanks ladies!

Glad it's worked out! May I also suggest talking to your bank about what sort of overdraft protection services they have? My bank offers automatic overdraft transfers. If you have a savings account, you can sign a form that will automatically transfer funds from savings to checking in increments of $50 if an overdraft is going to occur. There is a $5 transfer fee when a transfer is activated, which is a lot less than an NSF fee and spares the embarassment at the merchant. I think you should see if your bank offers something like this, it can really help!
