FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

Re: FRIDAY CONFESSIONS

  • This is totally flameworthy. I know we should respect women's bodies, and having had two babies, I am completely fine with gaining weight for the health of the baby. A coworker of mine is super body and health conscious and is somewhat vain. She's made it clear that she is very concerned about going "back to normal" which for her means about 5'2" and 105 lbs. She's about six months pregnant and I just kind of had a mini glee attack because I realized her ass looks a lot bigger. She looks great and healthy, I'm convinced she'll take the weight off easily, but I'm surprised at my own superficiality.

  • Confession #2 I hate the internet settings/Safari/Mac computer that is keeping me from going into perfectly good sites like hotmail and goodreads. My boss wants to send me something that needs to go to my hotmail account and I have to wait until I go home to check if it comes through. There is no IT person her and the settings are insane. I couldn't even open word yesterday. Anyone know how to get my internet and computer settings right?

  • One piece of chocolate turned my day around.  I have been in such a bad mood all day and now I'm bouncing off the walls filled with joy.

I can't decide what to take from this.

  • There's this effed up part of me that is slightly annoyed with my brother being deployed because now I have to deal with our dad.  Normally, he bothers my brother and leaves me alone but now he gets to annoy me and guilt trip me for the next 9 months.

FWIW, my brother is in Kuwait so he's not deployed to a war zone.

  • My husband's cousin and best friend is getting married on Tuesday - the wedding is at 11 and the reception starts at 3.  His fiancee is whining to anyone who will listen about how everything is not going to be perfect and how so-and-so won't be at the wedding (not CAN'T, mind you, it would never occur to her that someone can't take PTO), and how this and this and this and I just want to shake her.

I hope to god I was never this young and irritating.

She would hate me forever for saying what I really want to say, which is:

    1. You planned a wedding in a month for 100 guests that your parents are paying for.  Suck it up that it's in their backyard.
    2. An outdoor reception in October is going to be cold.  There's nothing anybody can really do about that.  I know you found several amazing reception spaces available, but if your parents are footing the bill and given a month's notice, you can't really blame them for doing it how they want, how they can afford.
    3. A lot of people can't or don't want to take PTO, or have important shit going on at work, or school exams/sports/classes they can't miss, and shouldn't be given the death stare, silent treatment, and be cursed over it.  That's why weddings generally take place on the weekend.

I really hate weddings. I hate everything about them, I swear.

Ugh. That's a really frustrating situation. We had friends get married on a Tuesday a few years ago because it was what their modest budget allowed. At least it was in the evening though (still like 5 p.m.) and they were really gracious and understanding about declines.

  • I am hiding in our room, playing on the computer and letting my husband clean up the kitchen and living room. When I come out, he will ask me what I was doing and I will say "working" so I won't feel so bad for not helping.

I blocked some people, but it's getting ridiculous.  Plus, I still want their non-bitstrip updates.

You can block an app without blocking a person. Just click the little arrow beneath the post and "Hide all updates from this application". Ta-da. All gone.
