NBR: Fashionistas - boot help

I want a pair of brown riding boots (because you can never have too many boots!)

I've tried on a handful of pairs and they are all loose around my calves.  My calves are not small due to running so I'm not sure if this is the way they are supposed to be or not.

I want something like this:

So tell me, are they supposed to be fitted around my calves or are am supposed to have space in between the boot and my upper calf?

I think a gap at the top would be fine as long as your feel aren't flopping around in the boots.

Depends on how big the gap is.  I'm no help.

In a riding boot, I would expect there to be some space between the boot and the calf (and in general space all around) because riding boots are made for having pants tucked into them.

i have boots that are adjustable-there's a buckle on the side and it's perfect.

i'm not a fan of space between the boots adn my pants though so i usually have it so there's minimal space.

I think there's supposed to be a slight gap so you can tuck pants into them. I don't like a huge gap though.
