Thats Right I said it! Thanksgiving is Coming up, what are your favorite recipes or family recipes/Traditions?

This is our first Holiday back from living 14hours away from family so My H and I are very excited to see everyone. We are even having his parents over ON Thanksgiving! (obviously excited) This year My side of the family is having a Best pie contest and my Grandfather will be the judge. I Plan on making a Peanut Butter pie (Graham Crust or OREO, Peanut Butter, Cream Cheese, Powdered Sugar, and melted Chocolate.) ;)

Look forward to hearing for you.

Re: Thanksgiving Recipes!

  • My dad and I always make pies together for Thanksgiving and Christmas. My dad doesn't eat sugar so we make one or two Honey Pumpkin pies. We also like to make something we haven't made before like a Honey Cashew or Strawberry Rhubarb. We have yet to find a new pie recipe for this year though!

We always smoke our turkey, and it turns out so juicy and amazing! My dad also does not eat meat, so he eats crab or salmon while we eat turkey and ham!

  • We always spend Thanksgiving with my husbands family. It just worked out better with the days he worked and they dont live close, so we go and spend the entire day there.  What I love about their thanksgiving, is its so casual and full of alot of laughs and good times. There are about 20 of us for dinner, crammed into a little house in Queens NY. I look forward to it every year.  I started bringing corn spoon bread with me as a side and they LOVE it.

It has become tradition now that I spend the day after Thanksgiving eating leftovers with my family.  My grandmother is an excellent cook and she doesnt do it often anymore. We all pile on over to her house the next day and reheat everything and enjoy. She makes the worlds best stuffing!!!

  • We started hosting Thanksgiving last year, so I'm still playing with our menu. Two of our staples are MIL's stuffing which is H's favorite and has chorizo in it! And my Mom's apple pie, she makes it entirely from scratch and it's amazing! This year I have caramel pumpkin cheesecake stuck in my head, so I think I'm going to try making that!

  • I am canadian so we already celebrated lol! For pie we made a raisin chess pie. Basically combined a chess recipe and a raisin pie recipe, it was so good! Also had a sage rubbed turkey, Nigella's sweet potatoe recipe with tons of lime, and Brussels sports sautéed with bacon and maple syrup.

  • Chicken spectacular :)

You cook a package of Uncle Bens wild rice and mix it with; 1 cup of diced/cut chicken, 1 cup of mayonaise (Don't substitute), 1 can of campbells cream of chicken, 1 can of green beans. crush of a sleeve of ritz crackers and sprinkle it evenly across the mixture and then melt 1 stick of butter and evenly pour it over the top. Put it in the oven at 360 for 20-25 minutes and its amazing. :)

My husband asks for this all the time, he loves it. I try not to make it too often though because it isn't good for you.

  • Scratch that! 3 cups of chicken, not 1. Oops
