New Here: At-Home Beer Tasting Ideas?

Hi Guys,

I haven't posted here before but I'm pretty active on GP Moms and TB.

My DH is turning 30 next Sunday and I'm hoping to surprise him by having a bunch of his buddies come over for football (they are all in a fantasy league together) and during halftime, I would like to do an at-home beer tasting. He always said he wanted to do one.

I was wondering if you guys had any good ideas for themes for the beer or something I could do to make it a little more fun than just being like, "Drink up! Here's 6 different beers! Bye!" Haha.

I'm 7 months pregnant so I can't participate. I'll be hosting the party (making all the food, refilling drinks, etc) instead.

TIA!

ETA: I saw the beer tasting post below. I'm more looking for suggestions about the beer itself than a menu. I already have that planned out.

  • You could do holiday-themed beers....for example I'm in Texas and Shiner just came out with a holiday beer...you could see if any local breweries have done that in your area and have some of those to taste! :)
  • There should be a ton of fal/winter varietal cases out right now.  Maybe grab a mixed case from a local brewery and then compare it to a mixed case from a larger, more well-known brewery. Victory is a local PA brewery that has a great selection, as does Sam Adams.
