Help with Basement Playroom
Our basement is unfinished, and we can't "finish" it at this point. So I want to just make the unfinished basement nice enough for a 3 year old to play in it. I was thinking large motor skill activities like putting his tunnel and tent and basket ball hoop down there. The walls are cinder block and the floor is cement. I can leave the walls the way they are, but I need some kind of flooring that is waterproof (we don't get a lot of water there, but it can happen since it is a basement) and that is soft enough to play on or I could put a rug/ foam tiles over. Any suggestions for the flooring? Or for basement playrooms in general? I've already gone on Pinterest, but most of the pictures are for finished basements.
Re: Help with Basement Playroom
What about putting down a laminate flooring underlay, and then using interlocking foam tiles on top? I would be hesitant to use carpet, even carpet tiles, if moisture is an issue.

Paint the walls, it will help give the basement a less basement feel. For the floor what about an epoxy paint? We did that in a house we were renting (with landlord approval) to change a dark scary basement and laundry room area to a place where we had a nice office space & second living room and laundry wasn't so scary either. We put area rugs down to warm up the floor some.
Doing an epoxy finish isn't easy, but it's very durable and should you get water, it will hold up to it, then all you have to do is throw away the area rug. Behr (at Home Depot) now has a line of expoxy paint that can be tinted to give you more color options then the ones you see for garages (gray, tan or blue). We had used Rustoleum garage floor paint for the extra durability.
