Best Sugar Cookie Recipe

Hey everyone! I have tons of cookie cutters, but I haven't ever used them! What is your favorite sugar cookie recipe (and decorating icing recipe!) for the holidays? Also, any tips on decorating? I am pretty artistically challenged Thanks!

I like Alton browns recipe. However, last year I used the Betty Crocker mix and won my cookie exchange lol! I added vanilla to the mix and increased the butter by 2 tbsp. then I made a buttercream frosting, and decorated with crushed candy canes. Honestly I am doing it again this year lol!

This is my favorite sugar cookie recipe. Follow it exactly and your cookies will come out super delicious. It is not too sugary, soft in the middle, and only browns on the bottom (as long as you leave it in the oven for 7 minutes). I won't use another recipe again.

I use this as a cut out recipe, and you can roll it very thin if you want. I made ghost cookies one year for Halloween, and they had a couple of very fine points that never got misshapen. Very nice to work with.

I got the baker's ammonia from them, and that is the key to this recipe.
