I swear I'm the weirdest

... Person ever when it comes to medcine. So I had my csection almost 5 weeks ago and I've done super good with recovery. Friday morning when I got up I had this pain in my neck almost like I slept wrong but it wouldn't go away and it seemed higher than normal. So today we noticed I still had it and then eventually we noticed my left eye wouldn't blink and I couldn't close it without closing my right. And my smile was off, the left wouldn't go near as high as the right side.

Now I know what you are thinking at this point OMG she had a stroke! I will go ahead and say no it was not a stroke but we thought it. So we dropped Ethan off at my mom's and went to the ER. The dr came in and asked questions and told us it was not a stroke but it was Bell's Palsy.

It is apparently temporary paralysis on one side of your face and the pain starts behind your ear. Also it is a virus non contagious. The dr said before it gets better I may end up sleeping with my left eye open and not know it. So anyways they loaded me up with medicine and told me I needed to follow up with my GP which I don't have one anymore since mine moved away and now I have to find one. Hopefully it will go away soon.

Just thought I would share the random weirdness of my life with you ladies.

Re: I swear I'm the weirdest

  • My grandmother had Bell's Palsy after her stroke and a bf of my cousins had it because of a different issue. At least it is something not so serious. I am glad you are ok!

I always worry I will miss something serious because I blame almost everything on my MS.

  • It's the time of year for it.  I swear I've have a dozen ER discharge calls with patients from our practice with Bell's Palsy.

I hope you feel better soon.

Did they tell you to patch your eye before bed so you don't scratch the cornea if you cant close it fully while sleeping?

  • They told H to watch for me sleeping with my eye open and if I do then we need to tape it down. Right now I can still close it so they weren't too worried.
