NBR WWYD: surgery and getting sick
I'm having sinus surgery a week from Thursday. Medications I'm allowed to take are already restricted (no aspirin for 2 weeks before), and are going to be a lot more restricted after this Thursday (there's all kinds of things I'm not supposed to take for a week before). DH is sick now and has been since last week. I'm pretty sure he has bronchitis, but maybe its just a bad cold. I've been coughing some since last night and have the slightest bit of a sort throat today. I can't get sick - I really don't want to have to reschedule this surgery. Should I go to an urgent care today to see if they can give me anything to prevent this getting worse, or just wait and see? I've been taking those airborne vitamins, eating healthy, drinking OJ and lots of water and generally trying to avoid DH so as not to get sick, but I feel like it's inevitable.
Re: NBR WWYD: surgery and getting sick
Good luck and I hope that you feel better!!
I'd have DH get an appointment to figure out what was wrong with him and get him the right meds before going in myself. If it is no more than a cold, there's not going to be much they can do for you (if anything, really) and your doc visit will be wasted. If it IS more than a cold, he gets the meds he needs and you could go in to the doc armed with the right info up front.
Good luck! I hope you don't get it!

I'd obviously still go see your doctor, but I would do this, too. It certainly can't hurt.
Lie down on your side. Dribble a few drops of H2O2 in one ear. Let it bubble. Once it settles down after 5-10 minutes, put a tissue over that ear, roll over and repeat in the other. It feels weird... but many germs come in through the ears -- and this takes care of them. And your symptoms will get better -- not worse.
If I were you I would do this about 3 or 4 times a day for a couple of days.
Good luck!!
I'm having deviated septum surgery. My dr said that of every 100 patients he sees, about 85 have deviated septums, but only about 3 are as bad as me. Awesome. He's only doing the cartilage and not breaking the bone to re-set it. But the bone in my nose is also really crooked, so I sort of wish he was going to break it and straighten that out too. But honestly, anything is going to make a huge difference!
I'll let you know how it goes.
